Rotborn is a 4 piece death metal band from Brazil formed in 2021.
For fans of bands like: Suffocation, Skeletal Remains, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, and the overall genre of Death metal.
I discovered Rotborn through following the vocalist of Shadow of Intent on Instagram, Ben Duerr. https://www.instagram.com/benduerrsoi/?hl=en He frequently posts music he enjoys on his story and I often screenshot the band and come back to it later. He has impeccable music taste and I always find goodies on his story.
Rotborn has released one EP, one split album, a couple singles, and one full length album. I’m hoping their popularity takes off so we can experience more of this group.
The first thing that stood out to me about Rotborn is their diverse drum fills and intense intros. They peaked my interest immediately with perfectly layered blasts and rhythm guitar breaks. They nail the death metal sound and bring a fresh sound and overall dynamic to the scene. I was honestly shocked that this band has such a small discography with their massive sound.
I don’t often talk about a band’s album covers and logo, but I really dig Rotborn’s look. Their logo is a bit more simplistic compared to other death metal logos, but it works really well and creates a nice aesthetic. I also sense a theme of apocalypse within their early craft, and their art flows nicely with their song titles and overall feel.

Their first and only entire full length album; “On the Perspective of Imminent Downfall” is just fantastic.
My favorite track from this album has to be "Unnatural Invading Parasites" with an insanely devastating drum intro that brings your attention for the impending drop of all the instruments and vocals coming together.
My other hits from this album include Moral Grudge, F.U.B.A.R., Cleptoplutocracy, The Stench of a New Era to Come, and finishing the album out on a powerful feeling with the track "The Void Eater."
A lot of complaints that occur with the death metal genre is that it sounds repetitive. With this record, (and all of their pieces really) Rotborn completely annihilate this narrative about death metal while remaining rooted in strong death metal building blocks. I personally consider death metal to be my favorite genre, so I'm always that person encouraging everyone to explore the genre. Rotborn is quickly becoming a band that I lean on to show to people new to the genre.
I wanted to keep this post short but sweet, just like Rotborn's discography. Rotborn has way more quality stuff on their profile, so go give them a listen. For instance, the drummer of Rotborn -Nestor Carrera, (who is incredible) also plays drums in another Brazilian Death Metal band called Escarnium. I bring up Escarnium because they teamed up with Rotborn to release a four song LIVE EP in 2024 titled "Escarnium & Rotborn Ao vivo na Eslovenia" To hear these tracked played live and as tight as they are in studio is insane. Seriously go listen.
